Default 97 civic hx

Well the other day I threw a rod in my 97 civic hx and need a new engine or at least bottom end. I have the D16y5 engine in my civic and was wondering what would be cheaper/Easier to do, just get a jdm D16y5 engine and drop it in, or if their are any cheaper engines I could drop in that would bolt up, or are their any other engines that I could just use the bottom end off of.
I'm really just looking for the cheapest option here but don't know enough about hondas to know what parts interchenge. any help or input would be appreciated.

what do you mean jdm D16y5 engine ???? d16y5 isnt a jdm engine. its just a hx engine. you can install any d" series engine into your car that will just bolt right up
or block and put your head on it. just look for any d16y7,d16y8 and put your head on it.

D16y5 engines are tough to find. You can use the bottom end of a Y8 which also has the aluminum oil pan. But any Y7 or Y8 bottom will do.
