Default 97 civic HX & need repair advice & owners manual

Hello,
As a female, I'm not too knowledgeable about cars.

I just bought a 97 civic 2 dr. HX.
It has 108800 miles on it. The previous owner did nothing but change oil, battery, tires and muffler.
I'd like to find an online copy [free] of the owners manual. Does that exist?

I'm thinking I should take it in to have the timing belt changed. Is that correct?
And, at the same time should I have the water pump changed?
Anything else?

Thanks for your kind help.
Mrs. J.

dont know of that existing.
something that is copyright - will not usually find online (unless you pay for it)
haynes makes a repair manual that has a gereral section in it - can buy at most auto parts stores.

i am surprised that the belt has not been done.
if not, i would do that and the water pump as you stated.

also, i usually do not take chances with thermostats.
unless you live in the northern part of US - i change to the lower temperature thermostat and would also replace the upper and lower radiator hoses - and of course flush the system out and put in new anti-freeze.

You can find the Honda service manual online, i have it for EG civics on my computer. As far as the timing belt/water pump, this should be changed every 60,000 miles. If the previous owner didn't change it at 60k then you should definatly change it b/c when they go bad you will have major problems. Also, change the timing belt and water pump at the same time as a cautionary measure. It is pretty much the same price to have the water pump changed with the timing belt. I've never heard of people changing radiator hoses and thermostats as regular maintanance. Also, check all your accessory belts for wear.

i never have downloaded this before..but others have on another forum and they all say its good, if you go to the middle of the page..you need to wate 29seconds before the download starts, and follow the instructions from there...

personally tho, i would just go to the local automotive store and buy a haynes manal for your car for like $15. It has EVERYTHING you need in it

oh ya..heres the link

HI,
As I type the 96-00 civic service manual, pdf is downloading.
It said it would take 24 minutes. WOW must be a lot of pages!!

I'm getting T-belt, pump, tensioner, and the 3 other belts replaced.

I live in cold MN, so hopefully thermostates don't freeze to death.

Mill$ Civic- if that is your car- it looks sharp.

Thanks all for your help and links.
