Default 98 Civic SI will crank but not start

This problem has been going on for about a month now. Ill give you guys the full rundown. one day i parked my car and turned it off to grab somthing, came back outside and the engine would only crank. I got it started with a boost, then i drove to my destination and the same problem occured. I tried starting it there multiple times then said screw it. Went inside, came back out 1h later and it started. This is an on going pattern. I had enough of it so i took it in to the shop, they replaced the relay, said it was cracked or somthing. It worked fine for a week, then the problem arose again. I took it in and they said they needed to run diagnostics when the car WONT start. Sadly, whenever it is there it WILL start, so they cant run diagnostics. They just took a guess and replaced the distributor which was under warrenty because it was replaced before. I took the car home turned it off, and turned it back on. It just barely started, and when i say just barely i mean it. Im so confused. ANY help is highly appreciated.

A friend of mine thinks its something in the ignition system. Forget what part he said, but he seemed pretty sure of it. He figured it out by turning it on, turning off, turning it on, turning it off. He said if the the car idles for a few seconds after turning it off, then its most likely somthing in the ignition system.
