Unhappy 98 honda civic problem

I recently had to have the idle air control valve fixed on my honda, after fixing it I drove it around to see how it was, at first it drove fine and then on a long stretch of driving the car began to act up, when i get to 55 to 60 mph the car drives fine but as soon as i let off the gas a little to decelerate, it has a little jerk, almost like when u stick ur hand on the end of a vacuum hose blocking the suction, then when u try to gas it a little again it stutters a little, the car drives fine until u try to slow down, it is also using a lot more gas, can anyone help???

Is the check engine light on?

How's the idle? When you have it it neutral how high are the RPM's?

Is your car a manual or automatic transmission?

Have you checked your vacuum lines?

When was your last tune up?

The IACV doesn't do anything when driving, just idling. So something else is wrong. Make sure all the sensors are plugged in.

If you're saying the gas pedal itself is sticking as you press it to go again after taking your foot off completely, that's usually caused by sticky gunk on the throttle plate and throttle body. Clean them.

Default 98honda civic problem

My honda civic is an automatic, I recently had the idle air control valve fixed by a friend because after months of the car sitting up, once i cranked it was idling up and down over and over, so i just had it worked on, and my friend said he fixed it without replacing it, the gas pedal doesnt stick, it just skips when u try to accelerate a little, or jerks, it mainly feels like a jerk backwards when u slow down or ease up on the gas, and the engine light is on...at first i thought the problem would go away because the car hasnt been driven until the car just got worked on a few days ago, after my friend worked on the idle air control valve, it stopped revving, but now the other problem i explained happened..and when u first drive the car it is fine all the way up to 60 mph, but once u ease off the gas, thats when this happens, i just checked the rpm when sitting in neutral and it is at 1 or 1,000?

Need to find someone with one of those obd 2 code readers go to auto zone or advance auto and they can pull the codes for you.

The jumper wire method (see Ron's signature) will work on your '98, but you might get more detailed results with an OBDII reader.
