Default 99-00 taillight conversion on my 96 help!

ok today i just installed the stock 99-00 taillights on my 96si. simply plug and play right? i was just looking to get rid of the amber colour. anyway, after they were installed i tested them and something is wrong. both turn signals work fine, except when im pressing the brake. when i press the brake, the light dims and flashes quicker on the left rear, and the right rear blinker stops flashing completely. and for some reason, this is affecting the front turn signals as well. when turn signals are on, the front blinkers blink faster, but they dont dim as the rear ones do. same thing happens when my hazards are on and i apply the brake, the rear lights speed up and dim. please help! and sorry, i know this may be a bit confusing, but i dont want to take it to a local shop and have them charge me $75 for something that could hopefully be an easy fix. thanks in advance!

oh yeah one more thing to confuse you guys further, when just pressing the brakes without the turn signals on, both the rear turn signal lights light up fully.

I agree that your taillight swap should work. It sounds like you may be having a grounding problem. Double check that all connectors are tightly seated - disconnect & reconnect.

G601 is the ground for all the rear lights (see picture of a Civic hatchback). Also check that this ground is firmly attached.
