Default 99 civic acting up

my 99 civic engine just died while I was going 65 on the freeway. Had to cruise over the shoulder and restart the engine. It That was couple weeks ago. Last night the engine died again while I was backing out of my driveway but it restarted right away. What else can I do? Should I change out the gas filter and clean the fuel injection system? The car has 100k miles on it and I haven't done those things yet. Spark plugs and air filter had been changed already.

TIA

During these episodes, did the Check Engine Light turned on either temporarily or constantly?

Does it only do it after it is warmed up, I have seen clogged fuel filters do that, ALOT of bad gas was sold when Katrina hit NewOrlands everyone should have put a new fuel filter on their car after that. If that don't work you need to find out if it loosing fire, next time it does it don,t restart quickly pull one off the plugs and see if is wet or smells like gas

ok. that kinda seems like the symtom of a gas filter because both times that happened, I was low on gas..not that low. Still had at 3 gallons left. But I will give that a try and hopefull it will solved the problem.

Thanks!

any tip on how to change out the gas filter? It looks pretty simple. One line and one line out. I know you need to disable power to the gas pump but is there anything else?

TIA

I figure that (sometimes) a picture is worth a thousand words!
