Default 99 Civic Auto Squeeking

When i turn my wheel right while moving not on a stop it makes a squeeking noise which sounds like its coming from the belt which is weird because when i go straight it doesnt make a sound. This only happens when turn my steering wheel right. But when i step on the brake a little bit hard it seems to stop the sound. When i start up my car i hear no squeeking at all. could anybody help me out?

Check whether the power steering fluid is low or the power steering drive belt is loose or glazed.

The power steering pump is on the left side, top front of the engine (from the driver's perspective). It has a belt that goes down to a pulley on the bottom of the engine. The fluid reservoir is on the fender near the pump. Unscrew the reservoir cap and there is a dipstick built in to check the fluid level.

Sounds like it's originating from the power steering... check the belt and fluids and you should be ok.

the belts seem nice and tight.. also fluid level seems fine.. but why would it just occur when steering wheel goes right?

Try to precisely locate the squeak sound while a buddy turns the steering wheel lock to lock. Is the power steering more stiff than usual?

If you find that the power steering is fine, then put the front end on stands, pull off the wheel, and inspect the brake pads. The brake pads have a built-in wear indicator that makes a metallic squeaking noise when the pad is worn down and needs to be replaced.
