Default ? about problematic window. is it definatly the the regulator?

i have a manual window that has been problematic....

its on my 96dx coupe. the drivers window tries to bind when rolling it down and gets really hard to roll down with the window still up about half way.

ive tried adjusting the window as much as i could and tho it helped close the window gap tighter BUT it didnt help the rolling the window down and back up. also tried

and before i spend over 100bucks for a new window regulator im curious if you guys had this same problem with yours going bad?

i got my tax check coming and defiantly going to try and fix this window!

Starting from the top, spray some silicone lubricant down the rubber side channels where the edges of the window glass slides. No need to remove the door panels. Roll the window up and down a few times, and you should notice a big difference.

ya i tried that..... i soaked down everything... all the gears as much as possible with the door panel off, all the window tracks and seals and still very tough where i swear if i try to roll it all the way down it feels like i might bust the handle off...

Is the problem actually with the handle cable mechanism?

You're right. It's part of the window regulator. Remove the window glass from the door and check for binding of the regulator when rolled all the way up and down. If so, you need a new regulator. You may be able to pick up a used one from a salvage yard.

Same problem with mine; my window came off the track as I was parking at the airport to catch a flight Interior was a little snowy since there was a blizzard that day. Luckily my fiance was able to pick it up a few hours after I flew out before the interior completely filled with snow.

I had to mess around with the front run channel, and silicone lubed the works to get it to work. The main pivot in my manual regulator is pretty sloppy so I'll be replacing it soon.

Here's a link to the TSB 97-021 info

ok ill try both. the window crank does have about 1/8 turn of slop in it.... but i believe my coupe handle mech is on the regulator... not the 4door seperate handle.....
i wish local yard had a coupe but they only have 2 4doors and they are power windows.

when i bought the car the window was alittle tight and not closing all the way but the lube helped the slightly sticking window and after trying to adjusting the window stuff i got the window to shut alittle tighter and stop the wind noise but lately the window just gets harder and harder...

i got the car out in the shop now just going to wait a day or two so all the snow melts off it and im going to slap the dx wheels back on it and then mess with the window abit more.
i must say my rims hate to have snow packed on them... really threw the ballancing off. im going to pull them off clean them up and take them back to the tire shop and have them rebalanced again and ready for spring... i might have lost a few weights since they just glue on.
