AC makes car impossible
95 EX vtec
automatic
new to me two weeks ago...
whenever I have the AC on, and I press the gas from a complete stop the car is almost undriveable... the RPM's go up, but I will be moving at about 2-3 MPH (not good in an intersection)... Once the car gets to about 3500 RPM's, it starts to move and then drives pretty normal. I noticed the probelm is worse if the recycle air vs. fresh air option is pressed for the AC... Friends have told me Alternator and Transmission... but I'm not sure...
I would appreciate any help anyone can give...

If you have the AC on with the stock engine (which is quite small), it places an additional load on the engine. I have the same problem, which is why I almost never use my AC (just put all your windows down and put the fan on)
well with my AC on it does draw down my motor realy badly.....
just dont try to race with it on..........
hell when i wanna get going typical going from a stop.... then i turn it back on after im going.LMFAO

This is not your normal loss of power, this is serious "can't move... oh **** that big @ss truck is going to hit me" kind of won't move...
I took some more time to look at exactly what is going on and this only happens after I have been driving for a few minutes... fresh off the car does not do this, it's like it has to warm up for this...

well no clue..... may want to pull your plugs out and inspect them..... maybe its time for a tune up and just that extra drag on the motor is making it not wanna run properly..... thats the only thing i can think of that would only do that with the AC on...... might just turn off the ac speed up and then turn it back on.lol
thats not normal, in my car, i can turn the a/c on ful lblast, and itll still go like normal, i dunno whats up with that.
+1 for the tune up, try that and thats all it might be.

well i doubt like normal.LOL
punch the gas with the AC on and then do it again with the AC OFF... trust me thiers a difference.LOL
at least it kicks my auto trannys BUT gives it some response lag preaty good!

That's not normal. My stockVP autosedan still merges fine on short ramps from a dead stopwith the AC going full blast and hauling 4 ppl.
It sounds like you've got an electrical problem, causing the tranny to stick in 1st gear or causing a weak ignition, when the AC is on. Does it run rough whiledragging buttor do the revs climb smoothly? Does the improvement in acceleration come after the tranny upshifts or before?

Wow! all good questions, I will do my best to give very accurate answers...
It does not run rough while it's struggling off a stop, when the AC is on it tends to vibrate the steering wheel
The improvement tends to come after the shift into second at about 3000 RPM (If I remember correct)

hum have ya had the electrical system looked at?
that could be the problem... take the car to autozone or some auto place that can check it out for free on the car... could be the problem cause my car does run beter at 14volts rather than 10volts.LOL could be not enough power for a good spark....
wouldnt hurt just replacing the stock tiny ground wires anyways as those typicaly get realy ugly! like all rubber coating gone and wires coroding and wires coroding on the positive battery terminal itself... mine where realy bad! thats mainly why i swaped mine! they where looken realy bad!
