AC thermal protector opinions
#11
Thanks for the replies. I am replacing the timing belt right now (way overdue) so have access to the switch so it would be easy to replace but I wonder if the replacement protector is junk too? Otherwise I'm seriously thinking about permanently jumpering it out. If I were ever to replace the compressor what's your opinion on getting a re-manufactured, OEM or the original Honda compressor? Thx again!

Good point! Guess I was just a little frustrated due to the fact it took a couple of hours just to get to the part, which I needed to take all of that stuff off to get to the timing belt anyhow. I still think I'll just jumper the thermal protector unless anyone chimes in with a really good reason why I shouldn't do it.

Manufacture thought it was needed it there during engineering and design process. There must be a good reason for it.
If you go without that protection and the compressor overheats for whatever the reason, the compressor may go "junk". And you would say, "why did I skimp on that $65 part back then?".
