Air doesn't work?
Hi,
Just recently the air on my car has been turning on and off, until the other day when it completely quit working and hasn't worked in two days. I can't seem to figure out the problem. I have a 1994 honda civic lx. Any suggestions?

Does the compressor turn off and on randomly, or does it just not get cool when the a/c is on?
If it's not getting cool, it's freon. But freon doesn't "run out" unless there's a leak in the system. Charging it will only be a temporary solution.
If it's the compressor not turning on, it could be a relay on the compressor. Others will know more than me, but is there a rev limiter on the a/c compressor? I ask because on a couple Mazdas I've owned, once you got above 4k rpms, the compressor shut off to protect the bearings. If Hondas are the same way, I'm wondering if that switch has gone bad.
