Axle seal
Having trouble with my passenger side axle seal. I've gone thru 3 of them, 2 aftermarket and one OEM. It seems they work for a week or so and then start leaking again. There is no visible damage to them. Could it be that my "rebuilt" axle is machined too much where it meets the seal allowing fluid to leak by. It's a 93 civic w/ a manual tranny. Thanks!

Could very well be that. Maybe you could tell by trying the seal on the axle before installing.
Other things to look out for on axle seals:
* They are different left versus right. Look for an arrow showing the direction the shaft must normally rotate (when the car is rolling forward).
* Seal needs to be pushed into the bore flat and parallel, by pressing evenly only on it's outside edge. Pressure on the center area will bend it and ruin it.
* Always put oil (or ATF, if it's an automatic) on the lips of the seal before installing the axle. Be careful not to damage the seal by hitting it with the splined part of the axle.
