b16 charging problem?!?

Default b16 charging problem?!?

hey whats up everyone? newb here just swapped b16a in EF SI.
battery light is on and car cuts off after 5 min driving. iv gone through 3 alternaters, all were for a 90 gsr (thats what i was told to get), and 2 batterys. still car is only charging at 12.6v same as battery V. the original alt was jdm do i need a jdm alt or are all b series the same. my car/ecu is obd0 running stock SI harness. thanks in advance any help appreciated

Check your wiring and grounds. I had this issue with my B18 swap.

ok yeah i was gonna quadruple check all my **** tomarrow. is a 90 gsr compatable with a jdm b16? i mean it bolts up and plugs in..idk

You need to have power at the "I" wire of the alternator with the key on. Also the ECU can reduce alternator output on command by one of the other wires, but I forget exactly how that works. Basically if your harness is miswired the alternator will not work properly.

Also make sure that there is continuity from the big output post on the alternator back to the battery. In a stock setup it goes through a fuse (80 amp?) in the under-hood fuse box.

ok, took alt to advanced. charging low, 3rd bad one in a row, get new one this week see how it goes
