b18b1 ENGINE NOISE QUESTION
I CURRENTLY HAVE A B18B1 SWAPPED INTO A 95 CIVIC EX, AND IM HAVING SOME PROBLEMS WHEN I START THE ENGINE WHEN IT IS COLD. WHEN I START THE ENGINE AFTER IT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY COOLED DOWN AND ALL THE OIL PRESSURE HAS DROPPED THERE IS A TACKING/CLICKING (SOUNDS LIKE A LOOSE BOLT JUST RADDELING ) NOISECOMEING FROM THE TIMEING BELT AREA, AND THE NOISE GOES AWAY ONCE THE ENGINE WARMS UP, AND I REALLY DONT THINK ITS MY VALVES BECAUSE I ADJUSTED THE VALVES ABOUT A MONTH AGO.I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT CAN BE, PPL HAVE TOLD ME THE WATER PUMP, AND ALTERNATOR, AND I HAVE CHANGED BOTH AND STILL THE SAME PROBLEM,AND I REALLY DONT FEEL LIKE TAKING IT TO HONDA SO THEY CAN CHARGE ME AN ARM AND A LEG, SO IF ANY ONE CAN HELP ME I WILL REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

YAH, BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT I HAVE HEARD OF PPL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WHEN THEY HAVE A SPUN BEARING ? BUT I DONT NO , BECAUSE I HAD A SPUN BEARING IN MY 240SX AND THAT MADE A LOUDDD KNOCK, SO I HAVE NO IDEA.

NOT THAT I CAN TELL, BEACUSE ITS BEEN DOING IT SINCE I DROPPED THE MOTOR, AND KNOW EVERYTHING IS THE WAY IT SHOULD BE EXCEPT FOR THAT NOISE, WHICH I THOUGHT WAS SOMETHING SIMPILE LIKE THE WATER PUMP.
like i said, mine has donr the same thing since i put my ls motor in, and it only has 120,000 miles on it. so, unless the car runs funky, i wouldnt sweat it. if you take a block of wood and set it on the motor, with your ear at the other end, you can specify where the noise is most concentrated. its probably going to be a valve tick. at least thats what mine does.
