Default Back Seat/Fuel Filter question

I was planning on changing my fuel filter in the next couple of days and I understand that it is under the back seat (2 door 01 civic lx). How do I remove the back seat in order to access the fuel pump/filter?

Also does anyone know how much the fuel filters run for? And are they available at Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts?

The available 01 Civic manual should answer some of your questions.

I called auto zone today about getting a fuel filter and the person I spoke to said that you cant just replace the fuel filter you have to get the whole fuel pump assembly. Is that true? If not where else could i possibly get a fuel filter for my car at?

why are you repacing the fuel filter in the tank?????? e****ially since its a "02" only filter you have to replace is the other 1. you dont have to replace the filter on the pump. its not even a filter its a screen its to stop big stuff from getting sucked up in the pump.

It's an 01 Civic. The service manual says the fuel filter for this model is near or associated with the fuel pump. Go figure.

i JUST replaced my fuel filter, so take it from me.....STAY AWAY FROM YOUR FUEL TANK. there's no need to even go near your fuel pump, since your fuel filter is in your engine compartment, right beside your battery. it looks like a black cylindrical object mounted to your firewall.

and FYI, the two objects that ARE in your fuel tank and accessible from under your back seat...the fuel pump assembly, including the "filter" most people are trying to get at, which is just a simple screen for the big stuff. ...and also the fuel gauge sensor assembly

i believe there are two fuel filters, like in 92-00 civics.
one in the tank attached the the fuel pump (aka the fuel pump sock), and one in the engine bay, connected directly prior to the fuel rail.

the one that needs to be changed is the one in the engine bay. The in-tank filter should rarely have to be replaced.

also, to replace the one in the tank, you don't need to replace the fuel pump, as someone mentioned

trust me, i have changed both of them
