Del Sol runs fine, why CEL?
My D16Z6 was blown and I found a D15Z1 so I put it in with the original Z6 head, manifolds and ECU. It runs fine but the CEL came on right away. I flashed the code but can't find what it means. One long flash and eight short flashes. I need help, any thoughts????

it should work. that's a common swap, although it's normally done with a d15b7 block, but it shouldn't matter. it should still work.
you're throwing a code 18, which according to my haynes manual or any other source, doesn't exist...
are you sure it's 8 short flashes, and not 7 or 9?

Weird but yes it was one long followed by eight short flashes. I reseated the plugs and pulled the back up fuse to reset the ECU and then it flashed one. ????? I reseated the plug for the o2 and reset the ECU again. No CEL!!!! It just goes to show that you have to get it plugged in really good to keep her satisfied.
The Z1 wasn't an exact fit but pretty close. I had to slot holes on the power steering bracket and the intake support brace to get them to fit. The Z6 had two brackets that go from the transmission to the block but the Z1 only had holes for the front bracket. I guess it should be fine since I'm not racing it.
