I'm trying to decide between the two, I don't really understand the changes between the 95 and 97. Could somebody translate them into layman's terms, and recommend which one is better?

I'm going to have a mechanic check out the vehicle regardless. But the miles are similar on both.

I don't understand what the engine differences are, for example.

 

theres some del sols that have sohc(single over head cam) D16z6 motors, and theres some with a dohc(dual over head cam) B16 motor. i suggest getting the one with the b16. mileage really doesn't matter on a honda cuz they can last a loooong time.

 

Tell us the trims of each Del Sol. The differences of the two would be exterior changes. Everything else is about the same to my knowledge.

S = non-vtec D15
SI = vtec D16z6
VTEC = vtec B16a3

The "VTEC" versions are extremely rare nowadays.

 

In 97 they also changed the way the front bumper looks.
They got rid of the "aux lights". (the 2 small round lights in between the headlights lol)

 

^^The changes you mention started in 96. They ended production after 97.

I think in Canada or somewhere they ended production in 98?

Yup production in the us ended in 97, but everywhere else (like canada lol) ended in 98
