Default battery or alternator?

Guys need ur help yet again! I have a 94 civic lx and the other day it cut off while i was driving. I started it again and it worked fine. Happened 2 me again. It starts but after a few minutes feels it shuts off. I can restart it just have 2 wait a while. WHat do u think? If it cranks shouldnt the alternator hold the charge?

take it to an autozone and tell em you need to test the battery and alternator, but like leviii said, its probably not the battery. but theyll test it for free.

get the haynes manual. the chilton is better, but its written for mechanics. the haynes is written for schmucks like us. and yeah, you could do it yourself, its easy. i did my first alternator swap in the parking lot at napa auto parts when i was visiting another town. it took forever, but we finished it (not bad for a 14 year old [at the time] and my car illiterate 17 year old brother)

here is the latest on the civic. Ok now it started and i took the battery out 2 see if it was the alternator and it held the charge so that is not it. Now the mechanic swapped out a distributor and it didnt start. It isnt the battery cuz i took it to sears n they checked it and it was fine. The mechic said it sounds like an electrical problem. I am stumped. Thought it was the starter but it used 2 crank. what do u guys think??????????
