Battery goes dead on ilde
Hi guys,
went out yesterday morning to start my car (Civic LX 98) and left the car on ilde for about 10-15 mins... when I came back the car was not running... so I retried to restart the car SUPRISE.. battery was dead..
this is the third time it happened.. changed battery same thing... this morning I was in the car and noticed that every light in the cluster were slowly shutting off... like if there was not enough power until I gave a shot on the accelerator...
I can use the car no problem... the only problem is when I leave the car on ilde...
Any idea??
Thank you

Sounds to me like the alternator is failing or the alternator belt is slipping.
Also check whether the battery posts and connectors, as well as the battery ground connection to the body frame, are clean and tight.

dito. sounds like alternator is just bad or maybe the charging wire is broken so either no power or very little power is getting to the battery and the rest of the car....
so before you remove the alt and buy a new one be sure to get it tested out on the bench.... if it works on the bench then its either the charging wire that runs from the alternator to the battery/fuse box or maybe the electronic plug that turns on the alternator has a problem..... maybe a dirty/coroded terminal keeping it from turning ON.

well the cold is harder on your electrical system
hardest on the battery but if its hard on the battery then the alternator tries to pick up the slack and work harder which can burn it out.
just have both checked out... your battery and alternator, make sure both are in good working order.

lol it's 75 degrees outside where i'm at
Check that battery voltage is reaching the I wire on the alternator with the key on (engine not running). If not, it's that darn fuse 15 circuit again. That usually causes other problems like the speedometer not working and the CEL on though.
