blower fan stays on

RE: blower fan stays on
The fan shuts off when turned to the off position, but if left on it will remain on even after the key is out of the ignition. I replaced the head unit that I put in a year ago with a new one, and the problem occured after I installed the new head unit. The wiring was all the same for the power, acc, and speakers, I didn't change anything. Any ideas?

Head unit as in the CD player/reciever right? For my 94, the connector for the CD Player and the Climate Control are different. I'm gonna need a schematic to have a chance to help you, unfortunatly its gonna be a week or so before i can get my hands one.

yup cd player/reciever. I had a pannasonic in my 94 civic which I took out to put in my 03 civic. I replaced the cd player in the 94 with a new one (another pannasonic) and all the wiring was still the same but for some odd reason I develpoed the blower fan problem. And just discovered the rear defroster also comes on without the key in the ignition. I didn't have these issues after I changed the cd player the first time, just seems odd to develope these problems after changing it the second time.

I found my service manual, here is the page on the blower motor switch. It looks like you move the switch to each position and check for continiuty between the points on the back of the switch. I dunno how you would check for continiuty between 3 points, maybe some1 else can help on that.
Looks like photobucket resized it just enough so you can't see anything.

RE: blower fan stays on
So i found the schematic for the blower motor. It looks like the motor gets power from the relay. So when the relay points are on, the blower motor gets power. When they points aren't connected, the relay does not get power. There is a switch and some resistors that grounds the blower motor. So if the relay has gone bad, and points never seperate, the blower motor will always get power. So when the switch grounds the motor (when it ISN'T in the off position) the motor will run. So the short version of this is, test the relay. I can post both the schematic and how to test the relay upon request.

Thanks for all the help. I think that I may end up taking the car to a garage to see what's going on with it. The daytime running lights are now staying on as well. When I pull the fuse for the daytime running lights they go out (as they should), but when I put the fuse back in the blower motor stops and comes back on after about 30 sec. to a min. The fan also stops when I pull a fuse under the hood labled RR Defroster.

If your gonna take your car to a mechanic, make sure that you trust him and he is damn good. I've seen cars that have some really screwed up wiring cause they let some dumbass work on thier car who chopped the wiring up.
