Default Brake light on dashboard lights up when I make some turns.

When I make turns, the brake light on my dashboard (the light that tells you whether the hand-brake is on) lights up. It seems that the turns that make the brake indicator light up are sharper turns.
When I put my hand on the hand-brake, I can confirm that the hand-brake is on the down position. After some time, the brake-light on the dashboard turns off.

What's going on?

The brake fluid level is low. When you turn, it sloshes around and trips the switch.

Thanks mk378,
the brake fluid was quite low, and I topped it up with Penzoil DOT3 and Gunk (what a name!) DOT3.
