Default Bro's b-day gift, strapped for cash

I want to get my brother an airintake for his 94 accord. However I don't have a $100 or moreto get him a nice one, but I also don't want to ruin his car with a cheap one.

I've heard that buying a cheap intake and getting a nice filter works well. Is it possible to get an intake tube and a nice filter (K&N, AEM, etc.) all for under $50 bucks? (Don't just say ebayI need more info)

I found one on ebay for $70, cheap tube but comes with K&N filter. It's a cold air one but looks like it can be a short ram too not sure (link below). I would rather install a short ram on his car, quicker install, less sketchy I hear, and good sound.

I've looked around but nice filters cost like $50 bucks alone, would a universal filter work like from K&N? The cone ones are tapered at an angle and i'm not sure if that would work for his car. Any other brands that would work that are reliable filters and cheaper? Thanks

a cheapo ebay tube will suffice with a KN or AEM filter will work fine. the fitment may not be that great.

i haven't checked prices on filters in a while. but an aem dryflow filterwill be awesome, maybe he can buy the tube, and you buy the filter to keep cost down.

ya shipped with tax the aem filters come out to be $61.40
had to buy one the other day....

good luck wit that tho, a cheap ebay one will be fine for a month, but once u gotta clean it and oil it is when u need to change to like an aem that never has to be oiled..
