building a d16y8
im building a d16y8 bottom end im gonna be doing a .020 bore on the block and a .010 under turn on the crank can anyone give some advice on what kind of pistons to use to get a good c/r and how much h/p would i be expecting to gain off doing this is it really worth doing the bore or should i just turn the crank and leave the block as it is?
I personally wouldn't do the bore unless you have scoring and need to anyway, but the pistons you are looking for are the p29's out of the 88-89 Integra D16A1. They are flat tops and should raise your compression to ~ 12.5:1. Nice.

The compression alone should net you about 20Hp.

The compression alone should net you about 20Hp.
Yeah, they are direct stock replacement. What I meant about the bore was; if you have scoring on your cyliner walls and have to do a hone, then get it bored while you are in there, but if you dont have to, dont worry about it. 75mm parts are far more common and accessible.
You could go low compression pistons with forged rods. The parts alone will run you in the $1000, but you should be able to run massive bosst assuming the block and crank can handle it.
well the only thing is im not doing any forced induction i was gonna run a bottle on it after bout 4 months of the rebuild but there is no signs of scoring the crank is in very good shape the motor only has 65,000 miles on it i bought it out of the car never heard it run and took it apart to make sure al lthe bearings were fine and found out some of the rod bearings were kinda worn so i figured i wanted more horsepower out of it and wanted to bore it out.... but what im really after is more power and i figured more compression would give me that
im not opposed to boost at all its just not in my budget right now maybe later down the road i will but right now all my money is tied up in rebuilding this motor i just dont have $900 right now for boost so until i decide to go with forced induction ill just run the bottle for a bit.... but ya trust me if i had it in my budget to go with boost im all for it but for now im just building the motor..... so what do you think will give me more power?.... hone the block and use the p29 pistons for better compression or bore the block and go with oversized pistons? i had 3 days to decide and could use some really good advice and feedback

Im assuming this dude knows his stuff, but it just seems to me that people are afraid of boost, like they think boosting a motor that has never seen it before will automaticly cause millions of problems.
