Default A/c redo

Well if you haven't read my other thread- https://www.hondacivicforum.com/foru...ad.php?t=67145
It has stopped again. Called all people involved- Dealer/Mechanic. Basically biols down to Mechanic being a hack as I expected. he didn't replace the drier at any point. EITHER time he replaced the "new" compressor. So neither one will do anything. So I am going to fix the darned thing myself like I should have done originally. I bought a Drier, Expansion valve and getting a condenser tomorrow. I'll take it all apart and do my best to flush it. I'll have to remove the evaporator to change the Expan valve. How hard is it to get out? How can I get the oil out of the compressor? Can I do it ON the car? With replacing everything but the evap, comp, and lines. Flush lines and evap. Any tips? I've got gauges and a vac pump ready.

Take the compressor off the car and flush it with new PAG oil (Never put solvent into a compressor). Access to the compressor is very easy while you have the condenser out. When you flush the lines with solvent, you need a big air compressor to blow it all out. If you find bits of metal in the system, consider a new evaporator too.

To change the expansion valve, remove the evaporator case from the car. Remove the glove box, reinforcer plate behind the glove box, disconnect lines at firewall, unbolt evaporator case and remove it. Then take the clips off and seperate the case halves to work inside. Disconnect the expansion valve in order to flush the evaporator.

I think I may have found the problem. The "new" compressor had a 4" x 4" chunk missing out of the side of it. You could see inside the compressor without taking it apart. LOL They didn't want to warranty it. So they gave me another one. Here I go again...........Flushing lines and taking evaporator out now. More to follow.

Wow what a mess inside the evaporator! Pain in the you know what trying to flush the evap.
Already did the lines. I'll blow em out again before starting to put it back together. Then vac the heck out of it.

Take pictures of your progress and post them.

I am really looking forward to hearing that you have repaired the system and have cold A/C. I live in Houston so I feel your pain!

The only pic I got was of the bad compressor. I'll post it later. Flushing is such a pain.
But I had a leak in one oring on the drier. It's redonw and held vaccum over night.
So, I'll know shortly if it works, but I'll need one more can of 134a

here is what my compressor looked like when I removed the "new" compressor. The Mechanic was conveniently in Another town when I got there. I got another compressor from them tho.
I was able to charge it completely this afternoon and What a freakin difference! It actually gets cold now. No thermo(battery is dead in temp gun) but I'm happily chilled now.......
Hopefully end of saga!

Nice. That's really about the best you could do considering their incompetence. They hand you another free compressor (should be the last one you need) and you fix it right.

Those compressors do let you know when they've had enough, going to smithereens like that. If you have space to store them, strip the clutch parts off the bad one before you chuck it. May need them someday.

They kept the old one. They gave me another one. Never had a compressor do that before.
But it now gets colder faster and colder than since I bought it. Readings on the guage were 30/225ish. I got parts from Napa-Drier was $18.98 and expansion valve- $29.99. Orielly's for the condenser - $139{ Only place that could have it overnight-ONLY day off I could get-and paid for it at work today} Rented vac pump and guages from Autzone $300( which I got it all back)
