Default Cam belt

I have just bought a Civic 1.5i vtech (1997) but there is no indication in the hid=story of the cam belt ever being changed. the car has done 58000 miles, any one know when I should get the cam belt changed?

thanks

Right about now I believe. Seriously. I believe it is at roughly 100,000 km which is 60,000 miles.

90,000 is a good mileage for just about all cars, but many can go a lot longer.

its about 1-2 hours, and about a hundred bucks. just do it whenever you have the time. and for my gsr, that 100 bucks included the new water pump, which you should always change at the same time.

The worst thing is to wait too long and have it break. Then it turns into huge $$$$$.

I am surprised at the 90,000mile change. My mits and toyota where always 96,000km if memory serves me.

Well I'm at 116,000 on my Civic and still haven't changed it. I keep putting it off, but I suppose I should do that.....
