my damn car idles at what looks to me at like 300 rpms. its insane. i have one problem after the other with this car and its really annoying. anyone have any idea what it could be?????

 

why do you think that idling at 300rpm is a bad thing? just look at it like this, you are saving more gas when idling then if you were idling at 1000rpms

 

cars arent meant to idle that low....especially if it is ALL OF A SUDDEN doing that. maybe the new clutch thats in there isnt disengaging all the way causing it to almost stall out but just stay at low rpms..but i dont know. i just want to get rid of the piece of junk.

 

My car tends to idle that low when it's warm, I just assumed it was normal. Other times it idles at like 700rpm... and first thing in the monring is idles at 1500.

mine idols at about 1k in the morning when the engines cold and then it idols at around 300 or sometimes the needle will sit as if the car were off when warmed up. seems like it happened after i installed my header but the car has been running just fine for the 9-10 months since headers, never cuts out or anything.

 

should idle at 700 to 800 , i think.
should be a sticker under the hood that gives that spec.
is this throttle body or port ?

check your timing.

 

i was thinking it could be a timing issue as well. but generally after warmed up most cars should idle around 750. when i first start up in the morning it will idle around 1000-1250. and even for a little bit of driving around it will idle normally at 750. but a lot of the time it will idle at like 300 and i cant even hear my exhaust so i give it some gas to see if the car is even still on lol.

 

After mine warms up, it idles so low that it rests on the peg. But it idles smooth, and has never died on me so I never paid any special attention to it. It idles around 500-600 with the A/C on.

 

thats interesting because even with my AC on it still idles low. infact, when it idles at 300 and i give it a little gas to get it back up to normal the AC actually kicks in better haha.
