CD Player won't play Sony CD-RW
Hi everyone,
I bought a 2001 Civic about a week ago, and the original Honda Manufacturer's CD player wont play Sony Brand rewritable cd's, probably no CD-RW brands at all
It plays HP brand CD-R, but you can only burn those once and as a music junkie who gets bored from music pretty quick, i'll go through hundreds of discs per month.
The advantage of a CD-RW is I can erase them and re-burn at will with different songs as much as I please.
If anyone knows who the CD manufacturer is for Honda or know of a brand of CD-RW that does play in Honda's, can you let us know
Another option is I just might buy a MP3/CD player (probably a Sony XPlod) and do it that way. any suggestions as to which brands Civic owners are happy with?

I am not sure who manufactures honda audio but iam almost positive if you take the stereo out and put an aftermarket one in you lose your security features as well as your dome light. This is because all that wiring is inside the radio. I know this for sure happens in all of the 96-98 models. Not 100% on 2001's. Now if you dont mind losing those security features an aftermarket stereo is the most common option. I have an aftermarket installed and i was able to keep my stock stereo in. Another option would be to buy a fm transmitter which they sell at best buy, circuit city, etc. This option would be best if you have a mp3 player, or ipod or something. The ipod would connect right to the fm transmitter and you can listen to your songs through the car speakers. If your going to go with a aftermarket i would go with pioneeror panasonic. Those two brands are probably top of the line right now. Beleive it or not sony is not very good with car audio. I have a panasonic for about 4 years now and havent had a single problem. Let me know what you decide

I'm happy with my kenwood head unit, it plays mp3 CDs w/no problem...each CD stores about 150 songs. That should hold you over for a week!
