i have my vafc set for the vtec to engage at 4000 rpm's. if i am on the highway and i take it all the way to 8 grand my check engine light will come on. i couldnt figure out what it was but come to find out its that vtec solinoid getting stuck. but i would loose vtec unil i cut the car off and restart it. it was sooo weird but i also lost my throttle sensor numbers on my vafc when it happened. i guess its just one of those things. it doesnt hurt anything so i just leave it alone, or move the vtec activation higher in the rpm band.

just a thought but maybe the tps became unplugged or worse broke....... if its still plugged in get your self a volt meter and measure the voltage at the center pin of the tps plug. closed throttle it should read in the .5v range.........WOT should read in the 4.5v range

I agree with final, sounds like a TPS problem.
