Civic 98 expansion valve
Anyone has experience with unloading it ? With a adjustable wrench and one fixed wrench , I found it is really hard to get it out without breaking the lines with the evaporator , any idea?
Thanks
Thanks
+1 on the flare nut wrenches. But sometimes these fittings are hopelessly corroded and you will just need to replace the parts involved. Put WD-40 or PB blaster on the nut and wait a while. As a last resort you could apply heat, but this will destroy the o-ring (making it essential that you get the fitting apart) and probably also damage the TXV.
When re-assembling, the nuts do not have to be super tight because the o-ring makes the seal. Get the metal that the o-ring touches perfectly clean and free of scratches and corrosion. Always use a new o-ring and make sure it is of the HNBR material suitable for R-134a systems.
