Default Civic AC problem...likely cause?

The AC went out on my 97 Civic EXwhile driving a couple of years ago. We can direct wire the compressor and the compressor will kick in fine and the car will blow out cold air...so it's not a compressor problem. When I push the AC button inside the car, the compressor doesn't kick in...nothing happens. I checked the fuses, and even swapped the relays around and still nothing. Is it most likely a problem with the AC button inside the car? If it is, I have no idea how you go about getting to the button...the dash looks complicated to take apart and I don't want to bust anything. Thanks. Anything else easy I should check before I go trying to take the dash apart?

Default RE: Civic AC problem...likely cause?

well if its a problem like that id probably take it into a good AC shop....
the compressor might have the safety low pressure kicked in so thiers not enough coolant in the system so it wont kick on.... or could be that sensor has gone bad... or could be a relay or busted wire somewhere or even just a fuse blown under the dash or under the hood.....

so many things that it COULD BE.....without a machine to test things and more knoweldge abotu the whole AC system in that car.... its realy just a guessing game!

hell my 93truck i got now.. ac compressor was making lots of noise previous owner said... he paid to have a new compressor instaled... they pumped the old collant back into the system and it still made the loud noise.... we think he just needed some oil in the system... tho we are to lazy to do it cause its our yard work truck.LOL
just be sure if ya take it to a shop take it to a good shop! not your small time building or garage guy unless your sure they know thier stuff!
