Default Clutch Squeak?

I have noticed something new this last week. When I begin to accelerate and let off the clutch normally I will hear a squeak, like a short chirp of a birp below the car. My clutch does not seem to be slipping and I do not smell anything like a burninig clutch but this happens most of the time now. Any ideas on what this might be? '96 DX w/ 173,000 miles

Try depressing your clutch pedal while the vehicle is off. If you hear the squeak while depressing the pedal then this problem is probably your throw out bearing. If you still have stock clutch with high milage this would be normal wear.

another thing to consider is the pivot point to the t/o bearing fork.....those tend to squeek when the grease dries out.

i wouldnt bother greaseing it. sence you would have to remove the tranny to do that. might as well replace the clutch, make sure the new one comes with a pilot and throwout bearing. some kits dont.
