Default Clutch Squeak

Hello. I have a 2000 civic ex manual 5 speed. I read a couple other threads about squeaky clutches but my issue seems to be a little different. Something squeaks as I push the pedal down and as I release it back up. It's not the pedal itself and I don't think it's the slave cylinder or shift fork either. It started about a year ago but all I had to do was take off that rubber boot around the shift fork and spray WD40 into that opening (what looks like the tranny itself maybe)? It would go away for about a month and then come back but I would just spray more WD in it and it was fine for another few weeks.

Now it's so bad that I have to spray WD in there every day! I tried greasing up shift fork anyways to see, but it's only when I spray WD40 in that opening behind the boot. Does anyone know of something that needs to be greased in there? From the looks of it, it would probably be a pain to get in there.

I have the same problem...

I've tried spraying WD40 all over the place down there to try and find out where it might be coming from but can't seem to pin point it. I'll check where you mentioned and see if that does the trick. It's probably better to first clean with a solvent then use some kind of light grease.

The problem with using only WD40 is that after it cleans all the grease and grime out, it will stay lubricated only until its dried out, then you're back to grinding metal on metal. This is probably why at first, it would last a month or so then gradually became an everyday ordeal. Repeated WD40 treatment without further lubrication probably cleaned out all the grease.

sounds to me like a bad throw out bearing if the noise is coming form in there.
or maybe the spring behind the shift fork

Like Barney said, you need to get some grease onto the shift fork pivot ball. They sell lithium grease in a spray can; use it instead of WD-40. Pull the fork back slightly to open up the gap between it and the ball and apply grease there using the extension tube on the can. Do not pull too far or the spring clip will pop off! Then you might need to take the transmission out of the car to put it back together. Also grease where the plunger of the slave cylinder touches the shift fork. Do not get grease into the slave cylinder itself (inside the cylinder boot)

Hmm... It's starting to seem like I don't have the exact same problem. Is the screaming coming from inside the car or outside? Mine is inside.
Re: 94civic guy... Depending on the type of noise it's making... I don't think it would be the throw-out bearing.
I've had a bad one before and it would make a more chattering noise than a squeaky one, plus it would do it only when the car is running and when the clutch is not depressed--where if you push the clutch... The chatter goes away.
Please correct me if Im wrong...
