code P0135
Hi!
My girlfriend's civic ex 1997 manual transmission cel is on. She says it came on long time ago.
I thought maybe I can fix that.
Got the code pulled @ autozone:
P0135 Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Heater Circuit Malfunction
Thanks to helpfull posts I found out that I should first check the oxygen sensor with an ohm-meter. Haven't done it yet, but I will.
My question now is: If I have to replace the HO2 sensor, what is the right part (part number)?
I checked at majestichonda.com. They list only two ho2 sensors. the SENSOR, FR. OXYGEN for $155 and SENSOR, RR. OXYGEN $227. I guess I need the one for $155.
But my problem is: Why are they so expensive? Other posts say something about $60-$80.
Is the oxygen sensor for a manual transmission more expensive than for the automatic?
Thanks
Kresi

My guess would be that the $60-$80 o2 sensors people are talking about are the aftermarket Autozone, Murray's, Advance Auto sensors. Bosch particularily comes to mind for o2's. You are getting a better part by ordering a "genuine" honda o2 but you are also paying twice as much or more. IMO, I would bite the bullet and get the Honda o2. Some other people might have more to add.

PO135 is for the primary sensor, or the front. I had PO141 come up, which is the secondary sensor, or rear. I haven't replaced it yet, but i've seen them from $30-150. If you want to splice wires you can buy a 30 dollar universal o2 sensor at carpartswholesale

good question.
well, i don't have a wire chart/ pattern.
thought i could figure it out somehow. i haven't compared the old and the new sensor yet. (haven't ordered a new sensor yet)
the wires have different colors. hope the wire colors on the new and the old sensor match.

If it were me...before I started cutting and splicing wires I would go to www.hondapartscheap.com and look up the part number for the front o2 sensor.
Then I would go to www.densoproducts.com and do a search of the Honda part number and it wil tell which Desno sensors fit. Just my humble opinion.
