Cold Start Problem

When the outside temperature is below 45ยบ F or so, my car wont start. The engine turns but it acts like it's not getting any fuel. When it gets warm outside, it starts just fine. It has a new battery so thats not the problem.
It's a 1989 automatic Civic LX..

RE: Cold Start Problem

I have the same problem and have no idea what it is. We replaced the catalytic converter, the idle control valve and fuel related things, but no luck. I have a 2000 Honda Civic SI. Let me know if you get any good advise about this because I am at a loss..

RE: Cold Start Problem

Could be the main relay, though usually those act up when hot. Any sort of intermittent crank but no start should make the main relay a suspect. At least on a '91, the check engine light will stay on when cranking if the main relay is not working, normally it will be off during cranking unless you crank for a very long time.
