couple questions, im new to this
i have a couple questions.
1st. i wanna put an ACT clutch kit in. how would i go about doing this? i looked on the drivetrain DIY and didnt find anything.
2nd, i know i saw this somewhere but couldnt find it. i think its called the mini me conversion, taking a SOHC D16Y8, and putting a DOHC conversion??? parts and stuff for that??
please dont tell me to search because im a noob, i looked and im sorry if this is a repost, i link would be helpful

no dohc conversion if its a d16y8. mini me is 1.6sohc vtec head on 1.5sohc non vtec bottom end. are u mechanically inclined? clutch kit is no beginner task. why a nice clutch on a sohc, if i might ask? an oem would do fine, unless its boosted. u could spend the money u saved on i/h/e if u havent already. there was a dohc zc powerplant available in japan, and the sohc zc bottom end will accept the dohc zc head if im not mistaken. maybe thats the root of the d16 dohc confusion.
It's a JDM engine from certain 88-91 Civics. You don't want it... it's a little too old for your car, it's doable but you have better options, especially considering the outdated wiring of that engine compared to the wiring in your car.
DOHC engines you would probably want to look into most are the B18B1 or B18C1, or even B18C5. Lots of people do the B16 (because of the hype surrounding it), but if you're gonna do a B swap you might as well go with something with some ***** and not a crappy B16.

*****=b20b(or z) with gsr head. mine is in progress. nice n/a tq and hp, no need for nitrous or boost, no need to go into the bottom end either. theres some debate over the b vs z compression ratio. i recommend doing some research before u decide on b or z. pm me if u wanna know anything bout b20's

thanks a lot ^^^^ i cant afford a swap right now. thats why i asked about the "mini me" conversion. i think for now im gonna go with an intake manifold, new header and piping, can i get an ECU upgrade for this?? if so which one?
also what is the OBDI to OBDII conversion? and vise-versa
thanks a million guys

OBD1 to OBD2 conversion doesn't exist that I know of. OBD2 to OBD1 conversion is when you use an OBD1 ECU to control your OBD2 Civic. This is possible because the OBD1 ECUs can be chipped and the settings can be tuned to your engine. Also, there are some OBD1 and OBD2 Honda engines that are very similar to each other and the OBD1 ECU of the other engine can run the OBD2 similar engine fairly well. One example of this is the D16Y8 P2P OBD2 ECU and the D16Z6 P28 OBD1 ECU. The P28 will run a D16Y8 engine.
The only reason to do this conversion though is if you need to tune your ECU for modifications such as turbo, cam upgrade, engine build, etc., or because you want to get a tune just to make the engine run a little more optimally even with just bolt-ons (though the tune probably isn't worth the money in a bolt-on modification situation unless you just have a lot of money to spend).
A mini-me is when you put a D-series VTEC head on a D-series non-VTEC block. Your engine already has VTEC so there is no mini-me swap to be done.
