Crankshaft Pulley problem
I haven't had too much time to look further into the problem, but I did manage to take a quick picture.... maybe someone can see something obviously wrong. It looks like the bolt isn't exactly centered. I don't know if its supposed to be like this or somethin got messed up.
Clearly something is messed up because the pulley doesn't turn with the engine. It's off center because the bore of the pulley and/or the end of the crankshaft has worn down.
You have to get the bolt out to inspect further. If you don't have an impact wrench, either lock the flywheel or put the transmission in highest gear (only works with a manual) and lock the wheels so the engine can't turn when you try to remove the bolt. A holder that locks onto the pulley is obviously going to be useless in this situation.

I haven't tried any of that yet, I just used a regular ratchet and 17mm (yes 17) socket. I put the car in 5th gear, turning to the left I can feel the engine still turning and the wheels aren't moving. Turning to the right it seems like it gets tighter then as im turning it the pulleys being moving at the same pace. I am probably going to make a poor mans breaker bar, get some pipe from home depot or lowes or somethin. Also, just to be clear, its normal threaded, correct?
No chance of me getting the tools or doing any of that, so I towed it to a shop my friend works at. He's telling me that apparently something was f'd up with it when I got the motor and that im either going to need another motor or a whole new crank. The end of the crank is all torn up, theres nothing left on the inside of the crankshaft pulley, and the key slot is rounded off. He had mentioned that a new key and dampener might be able to work for a month or two or maybe not at all. I just got this motor from a jdm engine distributor a couple of months ago. I am racking my brain trying to figure out how the !#$% everything got torn up. Motor went straight from warehouse to shop into car, and for it to break in 2 months is ridiculous. What could cause something like that to happen? Probably could be a million different things.... this is ridiculously frustrating seeing as how i've spent close to $300 with tows and parts to get to this conclusion after spending a little over a G to get the motor and have it dropped in.
