When you switch on the headlights the taillights turn on too for a normal car, my crx when you switch on the headlights only the headlights turn on, brake lights work, signal lights work and hazard lights work. How do I fix the taillight so I can drive at night?

 

Do the small yellow lights on the front corners light up? If not, check the fuse. If they do, check bulbs in the back (whenever something doesn't light up, always start with the bulb). Could have a broken wire where they connect the hatch to the body of the car. Wire may look OK on the outside but copper inside is broken from repeated flexing.

 

Ok, when I turn on the headlights to dim my taillight turns on but when the headlight is on the taillight is off and when I high beam both are on. Is the wiring off or something? How do find info on crx lights wiring.

 

Something you might check is the actual headlight switch itself. I know on mine sometimes everything will light up except my cluster. And after kinda messing around with the switch it will finally go on.

 

how do i check the light switch? What do i look for? I tested all the lights and all works, but the taillights doesn't turn on when headlight is on at night.

Working at some positions of the switch but not others almost has to be the switch. Remove the steering column covers and locate the light switch at the base of the turn signal / light switch lever. The wires on the switch are:

white : feed from battery
red/yellow : headlights low
red/blue : headlights high
red/green : tail lights, dash lights, etc.

So unplug switch and jump the white wire to red/green. If the lights come on, replace switch.

 

What's the name for the light switch lever? I tried searching for it online but can't locate anywhere?
