D16A?? found one, but i need some help
okay fellas, im still pretty new to Honda's in general, so i need some help. i've searched the forums and found a lot of good info, but my question is this.
i recently found a project car not finished w/ a D16A DOHC engine in it, or in the back of the car. the motor actually looks great, but it looks like an unfinished project. i can get the motor for super cheap, and whatever part i can find lying around but, but my concern is that there's no trans. can i use any D-series trans w/ this motor? what wiring will i need, and what ecu do i need to run.
i have a 92 EG hatchback CX. its my work car right now, and im tired of the oil burning/no power motor it has right now. what will i need to swap this baby in there?
btw, the motor and extras are only going to cost me 100-130 bucks. its it worth it? thanks in advance guys!

RE: D16A?? found one, but i need some help
most D16A engines are DOHC
most are edm or jdm as well (meaning europe, australia only)
all of them are 110-130hp/99-110tq
used 1986-1996
in short, to swap, depending on age and origin of engine, you might have a lot to do.. or you might have very little to do
your engine is likely a D15B series motor, so you'll definitely have some fun converting to connect to an old ODB-0 car from your ODB-1 car

RE: D16A?? found one, but i need some help
^^thanks for the reply! i kind figured that i'd have to convert from OBD1 to OBD0. no thanks on that. i found the engine in the back of an EF, pretty much ready to go, but for an EF swap.
i found a D16Y7, which is more then likely a better swap.

a dual cam d16 is from an old first gen integra, i don't really believe thos are capatable swaps. your best bet since you have a 92 which is obd1 is to get a JDM d15b vtec or a d16z6 vtec, tha way you are adding power and vtec, instead of an extra cam that doesn't give you any more power.

as i understand, the Y7 doesn't have V-tec? i have a Y8 head available, and a del sol Si intake mani w/ Y8 injectors and ecu. im pretty sure i'll need the Y8 harness too right?
now that would be considered a mini-me swap right? would i have to use the Y8 head gasket, etc.? also, i found a 95 ex 5spd trans w/ axles. im considering getting that too because the stock gearing in my CX stinks bad.
i appreciate the help alot guys! im so use to MR2's that this is a new area i have yet to explore. its a hell of a lot easier too.
