can anyone help with an issue i'm havin?? my civic has recently started 2 develop a surging issue. it only happens wen cold or under heavy load,e.g. uphill. ive quickly checked the leads and plugs, nothin. it feels like an electrical problem, but i'm stuck. i dont think load should make a difference. overall, shes in good health. any ideas??

 

Sounds like the problem I had, my car would idle up and down when it was hot or cold, in traffic etc, etc. I replaced my Idle Control Valve. That might be your problem.

 

just 2 let all no, no idling issues. idles, runs, starts fine. blows fuel smoke, uses small amount of oil, nuthin 2 worry bout tho. dunno wats dun 2 the motor. only got invoices and dyno sheets wen i bought it. 105kw at the wheels. does alright against a worked 1.8 mazda bpt tho. any ideas??

What year is it? It sounds like a lack of fuel; fuel filter, tired pump, clogged injectors.

 

could be fuel, y only wen cold or under load?? symptoms are, under acceleration, the motor seems to surge ie: u can feel the power drop off, even only momentarily. it never stalls or slows considerately, just enuf 2 annoy me!! its not at once eitha, it goes for the entire time the motor is under load, until u hit the top of the hill. on the flat, back 2 normal! sorry guys, i dunno how else 2 explain it

 

hmmm... dirty injectors are the only thing I can say about it. It will only cost you $5-10 bucks but when you go to get gas, pick up some injector/ de-carbonizer. Its worth a shot.

 

have u checked your MAP sensor operation?

 

The reason I changed my Idle Control Valve was because my car was surging up and down. At stops and while moving, its not just to control idle speed.
