I have a 2000 Honda civic ex. i broke my cam due to an oil issue. i have been looking for a used head but i am having issue finding one that is compatible with mine my engine says d16ya but i just don't know what year i can pull a head from i heard a 96-00 but then i heard 99-00 due to some cold start function

I thought cold start was a part of the intake manifold, not the head. I would suggets to check on that.

You can use any head from a 96-00 that has a Vtec solenoid on it. Basically any D16y8 head.

The 99-00 EX head has extra air holes in the intake side. You can use an older head by channging the intake manifold too, or welding shut the corresponding holes in your manifold.
