Sounds like a fun idea. I am still finding someone to do the swap for me.

Do the swap yourself. It's not hard, just a matter of piecing all of the parts together. I'm completing mine tonight when I get out of work.

Nothin to specific involved... a few wrenches/sockets, a ratchet... razor blade or gasket scraper... and the parts. If you would need a special tool, you could rent if from autozone and take it back when your done... but nothing that involved to make it hard. Def make sure u have the book for your car handy too... Maybe a few friends and a 12 pack.

You asked about how would you know if the VTEC was working or not. Well what VTEC does is at a certain RPM (mines @ 5000) a 12v charge of electricity tells your engine to switch from lo-cam to high-cam. Usually the way you can tell if VTEC is working is to floor it and feel the difference between 4000 and 5000 RPM.

If you are just doing a mini-me swap, you wouldnt need a lift... just some basic tools, the book and a little common sense. If your talkin bout the full out motor swap... either a lift or a few buddy's, these little 4 bangers couldnt be that heavy... lmao

you dont need a lift, you could get the engine out from the bottom of the car, but you would need tall jackstands. and the motors aren't that heavy, i can pick up an assembled block (w/o the head) and carry it around. (not over my head or anything like that, just high enough to move it across the garage)
