Hi, I have a 96 Civic DX. Other than the fact that it runs great after 170000 miles it is nothing really special. I do have a question though. This is a manual trans but my stock instrument cluster does not have the typical tach on the left side. Can I purchase the cluster from a different model, like an EX, plug it in and thus have a tach? Or is that too simple?

I have a tach in my other cars (which are automatics: a van and a truck) which seems unnecessary but I would like one in my Civic.

Any help would be great.

yes, as long as it is from the same body style (by year). i did that in my 95 dx, plugs right in and works great.

 

I hava a95 dx sedan, also no tach. If i get a cluster from the same car same year, is there already a hook up hanging behind the cluster for it? or does it need to get wired?!?!

is it hard to remove the old one and install the new one. do you have to take the whole dash apart!?!?!

 

So if I want to buy one of those aftermarket tach I shoudn't have a problem connecting it cus there are are wires for the tach under a dash
