Default Dead Battery on a 2010 Civic

I just bought a 2010 Civic, trading in my 2005 Civic. After owning it for 4 weeks, I went out to start it the other day and the battery was completely dead. Nothing was left on, it was just dead. I had it towed to the dealer and they told me it was a "bad battery." My question is, does this happen often? That a car with less than 1400 miles has a bad battery? Is there a history of bad batteries? I have been a Honda owner for 20 years and have never had any problems like this.

Its not a thing that happens all the time. Some batteries have a flaw. This is rare, but it happens. And its not Honda thing.

These things happen. I've had a battery (DieHard) be perfect at the start of the trip, and after stopping for a few minutes, it was stone dead-- zero volts. Something let go inside.
