If it's a 96 or 97 you really should actually get under the car and inspect the wire harness anyway.

Unplug the 4 wire plug on the alternator and check that power reaches the black and yellow wire with the key on. There should also be a black and yellow wire to the speed sensor.

How do you inspect a harness very well when it's 3 ft up inside the car? Is there anyway to take that harness out to look at it while not under the car? I've went through the fuse 15 fix already, and that black and yellow wire was a mess, but since it's not popping the fuse now, I assume that my fix was good enough in that deparment. Is that wire harness an aftermarket part? I'd love to just replace the harness, if it's not a huge ordeal to replace it or if it's not crazy expensive?

By the way, the car is a 98 LX.

Default fixed

For some odd reason, everything works now, including the odo and speedo. I haven't had a chance to look at my headlights, but will tonight in the dark. It's just like something was unstuck today. I guess I hit a lucky bump somewhere.

Default unlucky again

The good luck didn't last long. I have solved the fuse 15 problem, and now I don't pop fuses, but the odo or speedo still don't work. I'd guess the gauge is just bad now, could this be?

Thanks for the help. I wish their was a forum with this much knowledge on Dodge trucks! I bought my civic to balance my crew cab, but now the truck isn't starting. Some sort of fuel delivery issue, probably the fuel pump. Anyone know of a great chrysler forum?

Thanks.

When the speed sensor is not working you should get a CEL and code for the sensor. If the ECU hasn't detected anything it is probably the speedometer head itself.
