Default door lock wont work

I have a 93 civic DX and the door lock wont work, like you press the button to lock the door but the button is like loose and it doesnt lock from the inside, i need to use a key to lock it from the outside, so i cant unlock or lock it from the inside? anyone know how to fix it, also if i dont get it fixed and its still loose and what not would a power door lock work with it?

does the door lock plunger move when you lock the door with the key? or does the door unlock but the plunger stays in place?

sounds like the part of the door lock mechanism that goes to the plunger is messed up. probably easiest to pull another lock mechanism out of a civic at the junkyard.

you can take the door panel off. there is a clip holding the window roller handle on. remove the clip with a flathead screwdriver or needlenose pliers. then there's a plastic screw near the mirror that you need to remove. then remove the interior door handle. door panel should now pop off when pulled and then lifted to get off the window slot.

take the door panel off and try spraying the lock mechanism with silicone grease spray. seems to cure a lot of sticking door lock problems.

The first thing you should check is the little metal rod that goes from the inside button the the lock it may have come loose.
