Driver side mirror needs repair but not replacement - ideas?
(2017 Hatchback - Touring) Hi everyone - just joined in hope of getting a little advice. My driver side mirror got clipped in a parking lot. Didn't notice that something was wrong until the next day - just didn't catch my eye. It looks like it might have been overextended forward. The mirror itself was completely intact, the motors to adjust it were working, and the defroster was working as well. I was able to snap the two halves of the casing to the mirror back into position, and everything seemed just fine aside from a few scratches. A few weeks later, the whole thing was sagging outwards to the left. Not hanging from the vehicle - just not tight. I used some gaffers tape to hold it back in position until I could bring it to the dealership for its next service. My assumption was that whatever clipped the unit into place (the vertical peg that allows it to rotate?) got damaged and eventually came loose. Again, everything about the unit is completely intact and functional. Dealership refused to repair it without ordering a full replacement for $950. They could not just order the part without the whole thing. Needless to say I wasn't gonna pay that much for what should be just a minor repair. Any ideas how I can get this fixed on the cheaper side? I suck at all things care maintenance and repair so any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!
