Default dx motor swap

i have a 90 dx hatch. has the d15. I want to upgrade engine or tune this one
my question is if i switch to a biger motor what is the most cost effective way to go. what other motors can i use that will blot on to my existing trany?

my other question is what if i just rebuild the motor thats in it. port and polished the head stuff like that. i have seen other cars where just doing that will make a world of difference. my cold air intake and high flow exhaust help alot now.

There are about a billion different ways you can go.

In my opinion, easiest swap for some extra power would be a ZC swap. You can find the engines from 400-700 bucks, and both the dohc and sohc will bolt up to your transmission.

Another thing you could do is just do a mpfi injection swap. That is a decent way to get 20 or so horse power.

Read up on this, this will answer most of your questions

and here is some information on the DOHC zc swap

Your air intake and high flow cat don't really help that much. How many miles does the d15 have on it?

2.5" cat?

What brand is it?

port/polished head will help you, but not enough. it's not even worth doing on the engine you have unless you build it... but that's not worth it either on your engine. lol

Trust just pwn'd your motor. lol. I have seen a lot of EFs around here with the ZC swap and they seem to pull pretty well. Or you could just sell it and buy an EG or EK to work with.

That's not a catalytic converter. It's a test pipe.

Test pipe is bad news. Bad for the ozone, makes your car sounds raspy, and gets you maybe 1 HP.

oh, and this 1 WHP is on a 99-00 Si, so on the D15B2 (I think you have that... that's off the top of my head... i'm not going to go look it up. lol) it's going to be more like 1/2 WHP.
