Default dyno the y8

i took my civic too the dyno today and wasnt too happy with it for what all i have done to it i thought it should be out more power then what it did. i have the AEM V2 intake SKUNK 2 cat back EBAY HEADER 11.6 to 1 compression and a 50 shot of nos. with out spray it put out 113.05 hp at about 6600rpm and 98.53 torque at about 5400rpm. with spray i got 158.89 hp and 148.66 torque.does that seem a little low toany of you. b/c i was think that a stock y8 should put out about 105 to 110 hp stock. if i am wrong let me know

Are you positive that you have an Ex Civic (Y8 Engine code 127hp) Or a Dx Civic (Y7 Engine code 110hp) Check the numbers on the block left hand side below valve cover.. If it turns out to be a D16 Y7 Then your dyno run seems fine to me.

That seems fine. The Vtec sohc puts out 127hp, but thats not to the ground, thats to the crank.

I forgot that point, you lose power in the trans and in the drive axles.

100-110 would be in average figures for stock, i/h/e don't make that much of a difference.

not only is there drivetrain loss, but there is also the factor of age and wear. the engine came with 127 to the crank, after almost a decade of use it it could drop to 90-100 to the crank. also standard bolt ons give you pep, but dont up your power an exrteme amount in numbers. which is why you saw the dramatic change with the spray versus standard bolt ons. all in all you should be pretty happy with the outcome. i spent a couple thousand to boost and only ended up with 167.7 on the dyno.

Don`t take my word for it, You may want to research it yourself, but the last time I checked Honda rated their H/P @ the wheels and not the crank so you actually come up with more horses @ the crank. The D16Y8 Has 127 hp @ the wheels. I could be wrong, but you can research it.
