i got my ecu stolen and i am having a hard time finding a used replacement.(i have a 94 sohc vetec)then i found one for 150.00 at a salvage yard. it has alot of miles on the car. do miles make a difference? i called a parts store and they want a core which they rebuild mine for 379.00 then return it to me, but i no longer have it. i also called a honda dealer and they have one for 848.56 but then i found a greddy at WWW.procivic.com for 500.00. then i found www.ecudirect.com for 399 and 499. then the next one was a racing one for 1,200 to 2,200. what one should i invest in. i have about 275.xxx miles. im not sure what to do!

 

Salvage yard one should have a guarantee on it. They don't wear out, it's electronic so it'll either work or it won't. Be sure to disconnect your battery before plugging a new ECU in. Also be sure that before you disconnect the battery, you know how to reset any security features on the radio and alarm system.

 

Just to let you know...people might not take you too seriously with that name. It is "vtec" (Valve Timing and lift Electronic Control) not "vetec". Just a heads up.

 

you just need a stock 5 speed P28, they aren't THAT hard to find and should be under $150.
