EG with a carby idle issue

EG with a carby idle issue
Hey guys,
Me and a few mates bought an EG civic with a carby engine a few weeks ago. At first it wasnt starting but after cleaning some of the carby and a general service we got it to start.
The problem is, the car would start but wont idle at all unless you give a bit of throttle to keep the revs up...
Me and my mates are still new and learning, so if anyone could give us some insight as to what we could do to get the car to run that would be GREAT!
